Busy Bees

This is going to be a long post just because I have much to post and it's been two weeks since the last one. Now, where to start. Two weekends ago Damon's dad came to help do some projects around the house with Damon. The man, at 74, is a total work horse. He and Damon dug up sprinklers, ripped out plants, put in new sprinklers and sanded 2 doors and door frames (the previous owners put water based paint over oil based paint. Not very bright.) Everything looks so much better now and the kids loved having Papa here. Thank you Papa for coming. While Papa was here I was able to put in some of our new garden. It's a first for us and I am hoping we do well at growing things. Damon will tell anyone who asks that I don't have a great track record.

We had opening day of baseball. Adam is on the Angels and Noah is a NY Met again. Opening day was hot, but the boys had fun. We are so looking forward to another season of baseball. On the 7th of March Noah had his first game. He played against the Padres and he had a good game. I also worked the snack bar for my one shift of the season. I'm glad that's out of the way.

Noah had a science experiment due this past Monday. He built his own thermometer and demonstrated how it worked. I got a call from the school nurse on Friday at 9:20am. School starts at 9:05am. Someone had shoved Adam into a wall and it split his lips and knocked his teeth lose. It was an accident, but still. That's the fastest I have ever gotten a call from the nurse.

Last and very much the saddest was having to say goodbye to some dear friends of ours. They are leaving San Diego. Melissa was the first friend I made when we moved to San Diego. We had a small girl's get together on Friday night. It was fun, but sad. My favorite thing of the night was watching some of the girls engorge themselves on my whip cream maker. I only got a picture of one (love ya Heather!) Damon and I went over to our friends house for the last time today to say goodbye. We will miss them so much and wish them well in their new adventures.

I told Lily she couldn't watch a movie and after the tantrum that followed she went to her room to play with her poly pocket princesses. I went in to see what she had been up to and she had the princesses in each others clothes. When asked why they weren't wearing their normal princess dress Lily told me that they were sharing their clothes. So funny. I guess even a princess needs to mix things up a bit.

Sorry about the long post. Now leave a comment and then go do something more important than blogging!! xoxoxo

It's all about the Girl!

This girl makes me laugh my head off. She also makes me want to pull my hair out, but no one is perfect. She had a field trip to the Birch Aquarium where she screamed her head off in shear panic due to some large fish. She wasn't the same after that room. She liked the sharks, but not the big fish. I don't understand her.

Move over Hannah. Here comes Lily. I know her diction isn't all that clear, but isn't it so cute to hear her sing songs from Wicked. Here is her rendition of Popular. Listen to the whole thing so you can laugh. We all do. She went back and watched the video her dad made and when she was finished she said, "I'm just like Hannah Montana." Damon and I looked at her with shock. We didn't even think she knew who Hannah was. We have never watched her in this house. Just goes to show you what kids can pick up.

PS. Got a call from the nurse today. Apparently Adam was having a hard time breathing and coughing a lot. She wondered if he had ever had any experiences with asthma. I had a good laugh with that and told her we had and that I would come get both the boys right away. Fun for me!

Field Trip Galore

My kids have been all over the place this week with school. Lily had a tour of the post office. Noah went to Torrey Pines State Reserve and Adam went to the Birch Aquarium. Needless to say I am quite tired. It doesn't help that baseball season has started with 4 practices a week. Life is fun right? Isn't this what we signed up for when we became parents? Damon and I were discussing our lives when we were in college. He said he barely remembers that time now. That makes me a little sad. That was the time that we could be so wrapped up in each other because there wasn't anything else monopolizing our time. I like to refer to that time as "the good old days".

Here are pictures from the kids various field trips. I do love exploring with them. I also love watching them learn new things.

Happy Love Day!

We call Valentine's day "Love Day!" in our house. It started about 6:30am when I snuck out of the house and ran to the store to get balloons and donuts for everyone. I snuck back in and arranged balloons, breakfast, gifts and drinks on the table for 4 people. Then I just waited for the faces to light up. They did and thanks were given.

After breakfast it was on to church for an activity for the kids. They had fun and I relaxed in the genealogy library with some research to do. Later Damon and I went out to the Temple and then to our new favorite Saturday Chinese Food place. Our sitter told us we had to be home by 8pm because she had plans. We were and we finished off the night with a yummy dessert and a movie, "The Saint." Now, who doesn't want to drool over Val Kilmer on Love Day?

A touch of Domesticness

I had an attack of domesticitis and decided to do Valentine treats for all my piano students and my kids and my husband. So I donned the apron and got to baking. It was fun and I remembered the good old days when I actually had time to bake and make fun treats. Lily was also at a friend's house which made my time even nicer. Now if I could only do this more often.

Field Trip Thursday

Due to baseball season starting and piano lessons having to be rescheduled we had to have a short field trip today. We went to the duck pond at the Scripps Ranch Library and fed the ducks. It was the most fun time we have had there. There were so many ducks and they were all starving. So if you live nearby go feed the ducks. They are hungry. They ate right out of our hands. Even the geese were behaving themselves just to get a morsel of bread. Lily didn't enjoy having the goose nibble on her finger. It is sort of a right of passage I think. Everyone should get bitten on the finger by a goose at least once in their life. My mom used to take us to the duck pond at Encanto Park. I was probably about Lily's age the first time a goose got me, but I survived and I told her she would too. The kids were sad when we ran out of bread and so was I. We told the ducks goodbye and that we would visit soon. That was our day. Enjoy the pictures.
I didn't have the zoom on. The geese were right at my feet!
